Lacy, I can understand where you are coming from on both the marriage and the animals! My wife and I have been married for 45 years. Somewhere along the line we grew apart for a number of reasons. We can't be in the same house together more than 48 hours. I know it takes two ! She lives up in the Northern part of New Mexico with my daughter and grandson, 9 years old, we talk by text every day. Just better this way! The dogs and I have less stress!
I wash my spread every week or so. I live in a gated community with a very small backyard, so all their germs are our own!
Likewise, I'm understanding what stress I was living with! Doing better now!

@sundance Glad you are doing better now... well the common interests we have when younger or when we meet someone can change a little or a lot over the years. We had the typical male/female roles for many years which I was OK with... me cooking, cleaning, working, buying the family gifts etc and he looking after the yard, vehicles, working, fixing etc. When I got sick last episode I spent most of the time in my bedroom and he was bringing me sandwiches, coffee and such; this went on for more than I hoped... then 2 months ago he had major surgery and away from home, and I had to get up and about and look after the dog. etc. again... albeit by the skin of my teeth. Now, he thinks he knows more about cooking etc. than me, lol.... we have to end up laughing about it and look at each other and say: we deserve each other! Seriously, I feel "illness" in all its shapes and forms has affected our relationship/partnership which used to run like clockwork... and I am sure if it got to that point, living apart could be the only choice....however, it hasnt reached that point yet. I feel its nice to hear you keep in touch though, especially for your daughter and grandson... wish I had grandchldren! My first (abusive) marriage lasted nine years, so being together for 40 years these days is, I think, an achievement of sorts..... take care... it's so cold here today too cold even for the dog to go out for long -
minus 20 celsius this morning colder with wind chill..brrrr
