ah. that's nice Sundance. Well we get along well but second marriage and five years into our marriage i had cancer of cervix and treated out of town , 4 hours each way, and had issues and was away 2 and half months without a visit home.... we couldn't afford to have him visit me except at beginning and end... price of gas and accommodation and meals etc. When back home things were not quite the same... believe it or not we both snored; having 3 bedrooms in a small house we then each took our own bedroom. So it would be over fifteen years own rooms and when we got puppy we bought a large cage, left open . mattress and blankets etc as vet said dog would like its own space but first night at 3am the pup came into my room and i lifted her into bed with me.... it was so nice to have a living creature with me, emotionally. However as I say, after about five years and with her hip problem etc. she now stays downstairs on her own bed ... its kind of funny because before we adopted her I used to think having a dog in the bedroom was a terrible idea... germs and all, but love won over the sometimes not too clean paws (we were at cottage on lake) although I was constantly washing the bedspread! . I still feel that it might not have been the most sanitary situation given that she roamed outdoors all day, but I sure miss having her share my nest !!!

Lacy, I can understand where you are coming from on both the marriage and the animals! My wife and I have been married for 45 years. Somewhere along the line we grew apart for a number of reasons. We can't be in the same house together more than 48 hours. I know it takes two ! She lives up in the Northern part of New Mexico with my daughter and grandson, 9 years old, we talk by text every day. Just better this way! The dogs and I have less stress!
I wash my spread every week or so. I live in a gated community with a very small backyard, so all their germs are our own!
Likewise, I'm understanding what stress I was living with! Doing better now!
