Anyone on Lupron, Enzalutamide + Zolodrondric Acid? Side effects?

Posted by norske46 @norske46, Jun 19, 2020

I have stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosed in February 2019. It is now known to be in my spine, hips, sternum and left shoulder. I started bicalutamide in February 2019 (stopped in January, 2020), Lupron in March 2019, and had 44 external beam radiation treatments (July-September, 2019). Since March 2020 I have been on Lupron (3rd six month shot), enzalutamide and have had three Zolodrondric Acid infusions. The good news is we have been able to get the PSA down to 13.2 (from a starting point of 541.0).

My question is whether anyone else is on this drug combination (Lupron, Enzalutamide and Zolodrondric Acid) and, if so what side effects are you experiencing? I seem to be very easily fatigued, have had some leg pain and restless legs, and am generally very slow in moving around.

Thanks for any responses.

Hello, @norske46. Great question about drug combinations, Lupron, Enzalutamide and Zoledronic Acid. I’m hoping that members like @dlmjsh52 and others can share their experiences on any side effects. I also found the following article that talks about the drugs you are referring to.

Have you chatted with your provider about your side effects?

I have stage 3 prostate cancer. I have been on Lipton for over a year. PSA went from 32 to .02 Starting chemo in august. Regional spread of the cancer to bones in the hip girdle and seminal vesicles. Surgery no help and complications you have read here outweighs any upside. Lupron has resulted in many negative side effects, including loss of sex drive almost completely, soreness and occasional muscle strains that come out of nowhere. Overall loss of energy of about 20-25%. Loss of muscle mass even though continue to work out. Weight gain initially of 10 pounds, now paying much more attention and have it under control. Hiking and exercise have been effective , much more difficult. NOW, having said all that, the fact that the cancer is pretty serious and those shots are controlling it, it pretty amazing. If you didn't really know me, you wold have no idea that I had cancer. I'm 63 so fairly young and in good condition. Good luck to you all.

Thanks for the reference. It was helpful. We have talked about side effects and why these drugs are the right choice at this time. We will visit about it again on July 9.
