Accidents don’t happen according to some

How many of you who may read this have heard or maybe you’re a proponent of the philosophy that there are no accidents. I’ve thought about and asked about it and read and the closest I come to understanding of it semantics?
So for instance, I have a really bad back that always hurts to a degree blurred by pain meds it still hurts until “ it goes out “ my way of saying that some odd move that I make, brushing my teeth, stepping out of a pickup truck, sneezing ; brings down to the ground and I twist into a sideways S. It “ went out “ in upstate NY and my wife had to drive me to Albany VA. It had snowed and was bitter cold so there was ice on the deck. I stepped on it and flew from the top deck about 12 steps to the bottom. I was shocked but as I was coming to I noticed my body position. I landed right leg under my left leg and butt yet I didn’t feel hurt. As I unfolded I noticed my pain from the deck was gone. It was the best treatment I ever had. Can’t figure out how to market it. But I called that “ an accident “ mostly because I didn’t plan it.
Somewhere in my “ study “ of this saying about “ no accidents “ I ran across of a few philosophies that state that everything happen for a reason. I guess that means no accidents. I’m fascinated by Nietzsche’s
Eternal return of the same although it existed was before Mr Nietzsche. But my philosophy prof in college was obsessed with Nietzsche And in his obsession was his presentation and methodology which taught us how to “ dig “. But I still have no definitive answer.
Thoughts? Lessons? Condemnations?

PS I think this goes along with there are no coincidences!

Hi stuckonu,
Did you know the number one reason people go to orthopedic doctors is for back problems.
With that dangerous fall you had on your deck, the only explanation I can think of is whatever was “out of wack” on your back went back in place. No, I don’t believe the expression EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
Stuff happens, some good, and other stuff not good.
By the way are you in the Adirondack mountains? You mentioned upstate N.Y. I’m from California but loved to visit the Adirondack mountains in the summer. Hamilton county in particular.
No relatives in N.Y.just a love of the area.i met many locals, and kept in contact with them thru the years.
Sad to say some are no longer living.

@stuckonu I have also been working on this for a while. I have come to the conclusion that: "There are no unpreventable accidents" is a true statement. Or, to say it positively, "All accidents are preventable." I do believe in destiny, fate, karma, and that there is a reason for everything that happens. I don't always know the reason for everything, but I do believe there is a reason. Sometimes the reason is more easily understood. For instance, I believe that STDs and AIDS are a direct result of mankind's sexual debauchery since they learned the difference between good and evil. That, to me, is a consequence, not an accident.

TY fun C, sound right about “ back in place “ thought. I thought the same thing but took it a little further in telling my the wife that I was going to hang a chiropractor shingle in front of the house. I went on to say I would use one move: “ a set up and push “ move out on the deck. Sadly she never had a similar sense of humor.
I lived in Hudson County between New Paltz ( college town ) and Kingston ( the one time Capital of NY state.) Not sure where Hamilton County is; NY state is a big state.

Thanks 2011, those who say no accidents often say that there’s no coincidences not sure what they say about consequences. I know when touching a hot stove there will be a consequence.

Hi stuckonu,
New York is a very small state compared to my California.
Hamilton county is in the Adirondack mountains straight up from Albany, New York. One small town is long lake. It does have a long lake in it.
Many fun summer activities.
I’ve traveled all over the US, Canada, Mexico, as well as off shore. Funny how certain parts of a vacation will always stay in my memory. Adirondack mountains is one of them.
Take care,
Funcountess
