Nebulizing Equipment

Posted by alleycatkate @alleycatkate, Apr 20, 2020

Hi all....Does anyone know if the Neb Kits are interchangeable with different Nebulizing Compressors? I have a Drive Compressor and would like to try the Pari Neb kit for my compressor but I am not sure if it would fit. Seems that it would be interchangeable since it is just a connecting tube from the compressor to the kit. I'd need to get my GP to write a script so I don't want to get it wrong. Thanks for any thoughts.

@ginak At most, 7 % saline should run about $35.00 a box. Try http://www.goodrx.com to see who in your area sells it the cheapest. I get mine free from the Healthwell Foundation.

Thanks so much for the information! I start on Medicare next month and will have to start paying for this myself. Hope all is well and stay safe❤️

A goodrx coupon, available on their website for free, reduces the price substantially. I pay a little over $15 for 60 vials at Walgreens - 2x a day for a month. It is even cheaper at CVS and other places but the Walgreens near me is the only bone with a drive through.

rits……... does anyone know if saline is provided cost free by any company with Medicare patients. Linncare does a great job with tubing and mouthpieces and albuterol...….. but I've not learned of anyone furnishing saline. Thank you

Does one simply phone Linncare to determine eligibility?

There was a Linncare small little office in Bartlesville, Okla -- I just went in there. It was no problem. If you're not close to an office, I would just start with a call and if that's not sufficient I'm sure they can direct you where to go.

I use the pari with the nebulizer I've had for 4 years that I use for albuterol and saline. It's just the mouthpiece that's different (as far as I can tell). I'm wondering if it's possible to use the pari for the albuterol and saline.

Thanks auntnanny. You mention Bartlesville; a place I think of as the "biggest, brightest" little city anywhere. With the unique Price Tower ala Frank Lloyd Wright, Phillips Petroleum, Reda Pump, Frank Phillips' historic home and Woolarock a few miles from town.

@ginak

I wonder how many they're sending me.

I finally received my Rx for the 7%. Based on the way my Dr wrote the Rx, (3x per day, I only neb once per day), I received 270 vials !! LOL. I’m happy about that, since then I have to reorder less frequently. I guess that’s why it cost $94. Going to try it later today. I’m a little concerned that it might cause hemoptysis. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this happening?

REPLY

@ginak Wow, 270 vials is quite a supply. I have not experienced hemoptysis from saline or otherwise, but if you have maybe start cautiously?
Also, 7% saline can really provoke a cough at first, and can irritate the throat a bit. I don't even try to neb the full amount - once I get several good deep coughs that bring up mucus, and then the mucus gets thinner/clearer, I call it good and stop. Sometimes that takes 5 minutes, sometimes the full dose.
I hope you have good results. Let us know how it goes.
Sue

alleycatkate I too would like to know more about the two different types of nebulizing equipment. I'm wondering why I the pari mouthpiece would not be okay to use for albuterol and saline. When I change from one to the other, I don't change tubing or compressors -- and I don't see or feel any difference in the delivery of any of it. Does anyone have an answer to this????? Thank you

Question……. has anyone experienced coughing hard enough to cause a bloodshot eye? This seems to happen to me (and I do cough very hard -- every day and most of the day)
