Possible Femoral neuropathy

Posted by tasneemb @tasneemb, Apr 20, 2020

Hi All
I have a 13 year old son who was seems to have some kind of nerve issue going from his groin area right to the bottom of his leg and his feet. He is unable to make his left leg straight and no one can touch him due to the sensation and pain he feels when touched. He is unable to wear even a sock on his foot. His foot seems to be the most sensitive and painful of all. He had a catheter on as he was hospitalized. While the catheter was on, his leg was perfectly fine, but not long after the catheter came out, then this issue began..talking like a day or 2....

I am not sure if this is something called femoral neuropathy or something else? Is there anyone on this forum that can add some insight to this issue please. He is currently taking Nurika (generic of Lyrica). He has been on it since January. The leg is still bent , and that pain is still there.

Thanking you for any assistance in this regard

Hello @tasneemb, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Thank you for advocating for your son and trying to learn as much as you can about his condition and treatment. I had not heard of femoral neuropathy but I did find some information that may help you learn more about it.

What to know about femoral neuropathy: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324084

Have you discussed with your doctor that you son still has pain even when taking the Nurika and he is unable to straighten his leg?

Hi John

Thank you very much for the reply. I really appreciate you finding some information for me. I actually did find something very useful on that site. Something called Neuromuscular ultrasound being a way to diagnose my son.

My son was due to go back to the Neuro during the lockdown..but we still have not taken him. But my husband will be messaging him , as we can ask him his thoughts around femoral neuropathy (based on the website you sent)

Thanking you once again
