1 workout a day vs several a day benefits

@fitnessask I think the links that @amandaburnett provided are excellent. Frankly, I never heard of "split workouts". I, under regular circumstances, go to my health club about 6 days a week, sometimes 7. I generally do the gym 3 of those days and do a full body workout. The links provided by Amanda seem to indicate that it is the preferred way, but there is a lot of personal preference there also. I find it easier to get it all done at once.
Is there a reason you prefer to split your workout? Is that so you can be more intense for each body area?

I am asking about exercises not more workouts.

For example if today i have "leg day" workouts and it has total of 10 exercises I want to know if spreading these exercises throughout the day be as beneficial as doing them in 1 setting.

Sorry i am having trouble articulating my question.
In retrospect i probably need to change the title.
