I am sorry you are going through this. Don't lose faith, but stay focused on the present. It's going to take your strength and presence of mind to handle day by day activities. Know this though, there are good treatments out there for you. If there is a cancer support group in your area, you may wish to join after you heal from the surgery where you can talk with others about what you are going through. All the best in your care.

Hi @grandma368, I add my welcome. I'm glad that your surgery is going ahead as planned on Tuesday. My thought is to take one day at a time. Focus on your healing after surgery. It sounds like your cancer care team is being very thorough. While it's a double shock to find out you may have another cancer, it's really good that they found it. Colon cancer is very slow growing. So focus on the mastectomy first. A colonoscopy will give them more information and you'll cross that bridge when necessary.

Here are some helpful discussions that fellow members @marybe and @roch started a while back that can help you prepare for Tuesday.

When do you know about whether the left breast will be removed or not?

Thank you for your words of hope. I am ok with the surgery to remove my breast. I know it will be a shock to look in the mirrow and not have them anymore but I believe I will look in the mirrow and see a beautiful me without breast cancer. The colon cancer is what is really bothering me My dad passed away in 2006 with Colon Cancer. BUT so much has changed since his death. I will have to put my trust in my doctor/surgeon and God. I am having some systems of the colon cancer or it just be my nerves. I have to remember to take one day at a time. AND i am going to try to find a group here in Camden, NC. Thank you and Gold Bless You. Deborah

Lots has changed in the handling of colon cancer...all for the better. Please just focus on one day at a time and don't borrow trouble. I went from DDD down to an A- and it's okay. When you first look at your chest, it will not be a pretty sight with tubes and stitches. However, it's going to get loads better. I am a year out now and finally got rid of the UGLY compression bras and my physical therapist prescribed different ones. WearEase makes nice camisole support ones and the material is slinky...makes me feel like a woman again. And, you know what, you can lay out in the sun topless and get an all over tan...as long as no one is looking! All the best to you.
