Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?
Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?
Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@artist01 I think it originated in the south but you can find mixes on the store now
Ah, sorry that your companion has a painful spine. How difficult.
@it works We had to put garden in as our son was allergic to preservatives and dye so I learned real quick what worked I bought it at our local feed store I think garden shops have it not sure .Another tip for deer Tie human hair on string they stay away
@imallers haha never heard that before
I lived in North Carolina many years ago and so enjoyed their barbecue and hush puppies. I would say they look similar to a tater tot, however so much better. I can’t get over my appetite for them, I even looked up a recipe to make them from scratch however haven’t made them yet. I am so tired of cooking and baking.
However, I feel so fortunate that I am well.
I know that they are somewhat successful with squirrels, perhaps rabbits. Everything is worth exploring. Thanks
I know some of you are already in the discussion "Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More" but for those of you who aren't and would like to continue the discussion around food and fare, please hop over to that discussion so we can keep supporting members who are here for the walking support!

Back to walking and talking.
Thanks, all! (Speaking of... I have yet to get mine in for the day.)
Nope. Southern WI. Unpleasant, raw and wet, sleety, rain, just icky!
@jude07 My son used that dried blood product around his newly planted baby cedar trees after the deer ate all of the first batch
It worked. They don't like it.
