Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

@jude07, I can relate to your deer eating your plants. I have already told my story of the crocus appearing one day and gone the next. Also, the deer ate every bud from our freshly planted mums. We had those planted by a company and we really never got to enjoy them. The deer are ceaseless in their search for something new to eat. They will try anything and spit it out if they decide they don't like it. A few years ago during rutting season, a buck used his antlers to strip the bark from my Japanese Maple tree. Of course, it died. I would give up, but my husband keeps trying new things. We have found the deer do not eat the daffodils, but those were planted long ago and last year a lot of them did not bloom. It will be interesting to see what does bloom this year. @joybringer1 what about the humble marigold? They say that if you plant them near the door, they are supposed to keep the mice from entering your house.

@artist01 Hush puppies are round balls of corn meal fried in oil I think they have some kind of spice in them not sure fiesty76 may know more They are 😋

@joybringer1, @jude07. Have you tried urine re the deer? I understand that keeps them away....guess you'd have to have a way to spread it far from where you sit to enjoy the flowers and garden, tho? Also, chili pepper? We have the same issue here but some of my friends found natural help like that. One friend, a fraternity sister, plants hundreds of pansies....our fraternity flower.... and finally found a way to slow them down. But, they are good in salads, pansies. @jude07, isn't there something you can put out there around your plants to keep the deer away? Maybe through out some seed or grass or something they like and they'd leave your plants alone? I would go nuts seeing some beautiful or not so beautiful animal munching on my special flowers or plants.....especially if I bent over and planted each one! I put moth balls outside my fence a few times when rats came up from the creek to my patio......seemed to keep them away some.....squirrels don't like them either. Nor do snakes, I think...may be mistaken there.

But, we have a lot of rain and it washed away most of the help I was getting. Love the deer and it must be lovely watching them, but it would also break my heart! Blessings, Jude and enjoy your walk in your cleared street. Don't know how you keep up with that snow and the work.....enjoy, elziabeth

Yes, it’s hard for me to see any animal hungry, and when I was a child on a farm with my parents, my Dad never hunted them. Now I live in the city and wish they would head out to the cornfields that may have more food for them.
They only come out at 9:00 pm, they think that I can’t see them, ha!!
My prayer walk today was calm and peaceful.

Yes, it’s hard for me to see any animal hungry, and when I was a child on a farm with my parents, my Dad never hunted them. Now I live in the city and wish they would head out to the cornfields that may have more food for them.
They only come out at 9:00 pm, they think that I can’t see them, ha!!
My prayer walk today was calm and peaceful.
