Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?
Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?
Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@fiesty76 What kind of a Dr was that? I'm glad you will see another Dr . My opthamalogist had me come in as I said yesterday she even did a glucoma and it is 14 so those drops are still helping . Hope your well . Did my chair exercises now walk after I do laundry
@fiesty76 Slip of fingers I guess glad it brought a smile we need all we can get of them
@mayofeb2020 A BLT sounds good right now . Think I,ll have one for lunch. With this covid virus we have to keep up with our walking and other exercises . I just did mine now walk after I do laundry . Glad your feeling o.k. Hope you are wearing mask when out I hear alot from all over not just Orange co arent . We,ve got to stop the spread .
@lioness. I always have mask on. Yes, the people in the beach cities in OC are very, very reluctant to wear masks even though the number of cases are increasing rapidly in those cities. In Irvine, everyone who works in contact with the public and customers must wear masks. A developer had donated one million masks to our city. No idea who or how to get them. Just got back from my walk, a friend dropped off a dozen mangoes, a tray of frozen prawns, and other goodies. I will share them with my neighbors if they want them, I can't eat all that.
@mayofeb2020 Glad you do I don't understand why people are so reluctant about mask. It makes me crazy . If you want throw some mangoes my way I live them . Take care
@jakeduck1 I may have gotten the wrong person. Sorry.
@lilypaws
Hello,
No problem, I appreciate your concern.
Hope all is well with you. Don’t have the answers I want yet but if I get them fine if I don’t find.I’ve lived for 53 years with epilepsy and no I knows why I have that so I can live with some idiopathic dizziness too.
Take care,
Jake
@jakedduck1 My granddad had epilepsy but was on the roof he was a contractor and fell off , should have know better but he took a turn for the worst then don't climp on a ladder
@lioness, That was a young opthamalogist I won't be seeing again!! Glad to hear your drops are helping. You are well ahead of me on the exercise! I walked early this morning but adding laundry and chair exercises would be just too much of a good thing! very big grin (vbg)
