Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

@becsbuddy, Yes, I'd been thinking that Boulder spelled shorter winters than Evanston, IL but mebbe' I need to rethink?? vbg I'd mentioned Estes Park to her because hubby and I used to take a New Year's trip to a condo on the river his parents owned. Love the whole area. Will add Crested Butte to the suggestion list. Thank You! They like laid back and are quite adept at funky!!! Smiles

@becsbuddy Love this and it is so true. It is time now for me to get up and go for my walk. I have to go to town so will get my walking in there It is cool here last week in 90's now this week in 70,s for summer we should be hot but I'm glad for this weather . So ladies let's go march ,one.two,three go

@becsbuddy, Becky, this poster is true! Walking really does improve the spirits. I took my Sat. walk at 6:30am while still very cool then worked in the back yard for 4 hours with several sitting and sipping iced tea breaks. Physical tiredness is such a good antidote for the blahs or blues or just "I don't want tos", yes?

I'm back. I had a wonderful fresh morning walk yesterday.
Last week I did more walking than I should have done while in Rochester for my annual visit. Walking around the clinic and around town for meals, was too much for me. I believe I would have been okay if I had packed my "pair" of low cut hiking shoes as I had planned. Instead when I opened my luggage, I discovered that I had packed one hiking shoe, and one sandal😮
Another short walk is on my agenda today - and I'll be wearing my low hiking shoes!
I enjoy walking with all of you!!!

Oh no!! That had to be so frustrating to discover. Did you eat out while there or did you get take out? I'm debating what we will do next week. I love the Canadian Honker and would hate to pass it up. Lol

Yes, we ate out. We drove from Ky to MN with an overnight stop along the way. We found restaurants to be adhering to their state/local regulations. And we already have restaurants that we are familiar with and comfortable with due to our established routine.
Canadian Honker IS serving - patio and safe spacing indoor. Safe, clean and delicious as always 😋
