Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Posted by Becky, Volunteer Mentor @becsbuddy, Feb 19, 2020

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@lioness Is this done with felt pens? I seem to be a bit behind with knowing. I am having a bad day. It's very clever however you created it.

Your art work is beautiful, is it on card stock. What did you color, with? No tombows yet?
How long did it take to make?
You must have lots of patience.
Do you frame your art work?
Way to pretty to just put away.

That’s a great distance for you....so proud of you that I want to share our appetizer we all had this past weekend. I know you will appreciate it. Had this with pizza after we all did our walking around Orlando.

@imallears, Romaine is my favorite standby for veggie salads. Do you sautee/grill using olive oil and spices???

@mayofeb I remember the first time I had octopus I had trouble swallowing those tentacles. I do like it when they make the little rings. What is that called? My memory keeps letting me down. They have them a lot in Spain too. Hey, how about walking around Spain. Or has anyone thought about doing the pilgrims's walk to St James's tomb ? Again the name escapes me. I am going to look it up and will post it. I would love to do that for real. You stay in Bed and Breakfast places along the way.

Pollyanne, your post reminded me of my first attempt at oysters on the half-shell. My yankee hubby instructed me to chew and savor s l o l y....He really was a rascal! Smiles

Hi,
Grilled for about 5 minutes or so....whole head rubbed with olive oil...you can season or not...done when it’s slightly charred and wilted. Really good on a fire grill but you can do it on an indoor electric grill like I do ...sometimes takes a little longer...or a grill pan on your stove. Just make sure the romaine is dry enough after you wash it. I would season it to compliment whatever you are eating....like steak seasoning if you are having steak...maybe a spritz of lemon .

Hi Florida Mary,
I think you need your own cooking show. Maybe on public t.v.
Everyone looks to you for cooking advice, including myself.
I’m sure jjjjjjdduck1 would love to live near you.
Do you like to bake also?
Take care,
Funcountess
