Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@1nan

We are very happy with delivery options and service of Shipt. Paying reasonable monthly fee, same day delivery isn’t unusual. They are having nationwide hiring campaign to better meet current need.

@1nan I just looked shipt up. The only places around here that they deliver from are Target, CVS, and Petco! No supermarkets.

Thanks for the tip about Whole Foods. I don't think we live close enough but I will check it out.
This is changing the subject but did anyone see the message Pope Francis put out yesterday. I found it to be a very beautiful and insightful message. I am not a catholic but I don't think that matters. I don't know how to post it here for everyone to read.

@pollyanne I did not see/hear it but I will do some googling to see if I can find it. Thanks for mentioning.

@mayofeb2020 The same is happening everywhere unfortunately. I think it was Jane Goodall who said this earth can support 400 billion people and we have 800 billion. I might not be accurate with these figures but it definitely was double. Is it surprising that we have viruses? My Northwood has also completely changed from when it was a country village to the present day. And look at Maui and how that has developed in the last 25 years. That's what makes it more vital to work at staying healthy with our diet and our exercising . I think everyone here is doing the best they can. Lets keep going and I enjoyed the spicy bean soup.

@pollyanne this remind me of another book SIlent Spring by Rachael Carson. Its about the destruction of the world supplies the seas,pollution everywhere the she wrote it in the 50,s I think but is so true today as then maybe worse now

Contentandwell, so when you told your son, did he believe you???? LOL

@fiesty @jakedduck It was in an email, sometimes it's easier that way. He has not commented on it. I know he just worries about us but sometimes it can be ridiculous.

@mayofeb2020 I've been in Irvine! I think I stayed in a hotel there when we went to a wedding in San Juan Capistrano. It's nice around there but a long commute into L.A. We also knew people in Mission Viejo.

For those of you needlessly suffering from the quarantine, I ...
Heard some advice on the radio last night, it said to have inner peace, that we should always finish things we start, and we all could use more calm in our lives. I looked through my house to find things that I'd started and hadn't finished, so I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Whiskey, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of wum, tha mainder of Valiumun srciptuns, an a box a chocletz. Yu haf no idr how feckin fablus I feel rite now. Sned this to all who need inner piss. An telum u luvum. And two al bee hapee wilst in de instalation.

@pollyanne
I think you added some zeros in there accidentally. You need to recheck your figures.

@lioness That is so true. The oceans are the worst and we don't think about it enough because we don't see it. I am always careful about plastic and I have always cut up the coke and 6 pack plastic packaging because it kills the turtles and similar sea life. They get caught up in it.
