What is the difference between Small and Long Fibre Neuropathy?

The large fibers, for example, carry messages from the brain telling muscles to move. Small fibers transmit sensory information about dangerous stimuli, whether external (pain, burning heat, freezing cold) or internal, and control autonomic (involuntary) functions such as heart rate and blood pressure."

I see in a previous post you mentioned having diabetic neuropathy. Have you seen the following discussion on Connect?

Hi @johnbishop. Thanks for posting this info and sheddng light on small and large nerve fibers.

It brings me to wonder if any of our members have begun with Small Fiber which lead to Large Fiber Neuropathy?

I'm going to start a new thread as I haven't heard much about it happening for many.

@rwinney my neurologist told me that if you have large then you have small neuropathy. I was not sure that this is what he said, but was my interpretation of what he said in my brief yearly checkup. I would like to know too if large is just a progression from small or something else.
