Asthma like symptoms after engine fume inhalation
Hello everyone, I can’t get any help or information! I’ve been to primary doc, pulmonologist, ERS, and Gastroenterologist..So I’m sorry in advance for the long story..but this is how it’s went so far.. in August I helped my husband work on a high performance motor in our shop.. It was over heating so it was a lot of starting it and letting it run until over heating (work on it) then start it up again and let it run until it over heated again.. thus went on for about 7-8 hrs.. shop doors were open..it was about 100 degrees we also had fans going..but the fumes were bad..I started coughing that night and felt bad the next week. Thought it was the flu...the nx wkend it was still over heating so we wrapped the headers with fiberglass. I still didn't fell good.. but I helped anyway.. it was a 7-8 hr job also..my cough got worse, had muscle fatigue..but now I cldnt talk or drink anything with out coughing..I couldn’t Stand the taste of soft drinks it burned my mouth..or if it was cold it made me cough..with coughing come no air.. I cld breath in but couldn’t breathe out... my oxygen level is good so I get no help from doctors..had s lung function test it showed restricted air way..plus my GURD started back up.. had a EGD doc said from throat down to stomach is not bleeding but very red and inflamed..I’ve had a Nissan fundo surgery about 10yrs ago wasn’t hvin any trouble with acid.. until all of this...never had any breathing trouble..until all of this.. I hv a nebulizer but it doesn’t seem to help..
Any suggestions or help I would appreciate it very much..

@acid2come- I am very relieved that you went and that someone finally gave you some steroids to calm the inflation. I use Nasacort, and over the counter noses pray to help with drainage. A friend of mine who has bad asthma uses it and recommended it to me, even if I do not have asthma. Best of luck. I hope that you rest more easily tonight.
@acid2come You’re doing an excellent job of advocating for yourself!
Thank you so much...it really helps knowing I’m not alone.. I mean I have a very supportive husband and family.. Hope that doesn’t sound bad.. I’m sorry that anyone is sick or has been sick.. But it does give you a better understanding...I’m tired of the doctors asking my husband questions about me like I’m not there..just because I don’t fit in there text book!!! I think if the doctor doesn’t know what to do for you or how to fix your problem...they try to make you think it’s just in your head...sorry don’t mean to be so negative.. but I’m tired of fighting for air and trying to convince the doctors to look a little deeper into my problem...
Any suggestions for itching throat that makes me cough uncontrollably???😊
I’m wondering what or how a cardiologist could help me?? it all seems to be coming from air way and lungs..but I’m definitely open for suggestions... a different approach...anything
Thank you ☺️
@acid2come It all does seem to be in lungs and airways but you said you wrapped fiberglass around the headers. If the fiberglass pieced got into you airways it may have gotten into you blood stream somehow and affected your heart . If that where me I would check out everything . But its up to you If the pulmonologist cant find anything ask him about seeing a cardiologist tell him about the fiberglass.
Ok! Thank you, that makes since.. I didn’t think of it that way..I appreciate your time.. and like I said I open for anyone’s knowledge, suggestions...thanks for sticking with me ❤️
@acid2come your welcome we here just want to help you get better keep us posted
@acidi2come- I think that one step at a time is the best. Did they check your heart out in the ER?
@acid2come- Boy do I understand about asking husbands when I'm sitting right there! Perhaps this started because you had a very hard time at the beginning talking but if you can, now is the time to speak up because as much as your is helping the doctor is not hearing anything from you. Keep speaking up at your appointments so that the dr. gets the idea! Have you told the dr.s that your throat feels itchy? It's most likely very irritated. The prednisone and time should make it feel better. If it's really severe then find out if you can swallow anything to soothe it. Tea with honey and lemon is very good- but not too hot to avoid burning your throat again. These things might help: a spoonful of honey to coat the throat, salt water gargles, nasal sprays, cough drops, and lozenges. I don't know if where you live is very dry, arid air but here in NE our cold days are just that. We have a pot of water that sits on a low flame on top of the stove to hydrate the air. Is this something that sounds like it might be doable?
Yes, for sure
Your right as hard as it is to speak with very little air.. the doctor needs to hear from me.. I have appointment on the 29th was thinking it might be best if I go alone!! They will have to talk to me or listen to me.. I’ve looked up hyperventilation, because the ER doc said that’s what it cld be.. BUT I know that’s not it
I’m going to try your suggestions for cough
Thank you ❤️
