7% Saline Solution

Got a supply of 7% vials and got a real jolt in my throat when I began inhaling it. However I quickly adapted to it and was able to finish the vial. Within a few minutes I was coughing and bringing stuff up - a first. I never had a timely response to 0.9. Bottom line: I guess the 7% solution is...well the real solution. Not to be confused with the Sherlock and Sigmund thing. Forgive my corny effort at mirth. Don

@thumperguy & @windwalker I am in the same boat - besides bronch, I have asthma - I know I need my levalbuterol neb when I can't sing along with the radio (not that I'm a good singer anyway) so SOB is always with me - just a little better or worse each day. Looking back, it was with me for many years before I was diagnosed with either - my husband used to berate me when I couldn't keep up with him & the kids on bikes - now the tide has turned, and I find myself slowing for him when we exercise together.
The exciting news is, that after almost 3 years, I'm back on my bicycle- yay! Love to have another form of exercise to choose from, especially now that the health club is out of the question and all of our dances have been cancelled.

Hello Sue! I'd like another form of exercise too besides the bicycle. Would love to have a rowing machine. I'd need to make space for that though. I got a dog a month ago, so I am now walking a lot every day.

In that case, I am willing to try the 7% saline, but where do I get it? Online offerings confusing. Is a doctor's prescription required?

Congratulations on your new family member! My dog does so much for me. She keeps me sane. It took a while to figure out where I could walk her safely during this scary time but I finally figured it out and I no longer feel like a rabbit surrounded by hawks during our walks. Enjoy your new bff!

My impression is that 7% requires an Rx. unlike 0.9 which I’ve ordered from Amazon. I don’t know about 3%.

You can get 7% by prescription but I buy it online from amazon.ca (I’m in Canada) without a prescription. I had a hard time finding a pharmacy that would bring it in for me so tried amazon and it is cheaper. The brand I get is Pari HyperSal and each box of 60 Ampules includes a nebulizer and tubing.

@diane36 I get mine with and without an Rx. It is slightly cheaper with the prescription, but occasionally I will see it for less on line and order a box. MY local pharmacy usually takes 2-3 days to get it from their supplier, so I like to keep a little extra on hand.

If you get it from a pharmacy, use a goodrx coupon. The price of my pescription at Walgreens was $44 without goodrx and $14 with it.
