to john57. John by now you should have results from from your PSA and that may be the determining factor as to if you need additional treatment. In an ideal situation you may not need additional treatment if surgery was totally successful. Many surgeries however are not and require additional treatment. I had my prosectomy nearly 10 years ago and not sure if the protocol would be similar to mine but I can give you overview of my treatment. Doc after surgery said margins were clear and all looked OK. However PSA began to go up and I eventually was put on Lupron but that was after radiation and chemo. I started Lupron 2 years ago after the PSA began to increase again. PSA never did go above 6 but the Doc and I agreed we would start it when it reached a certain number, can't remember what that was maybe a 4. For last two years PSA has been less than one. Very minimal side effects. All my yearly scans are close to normal, some indication of matastisis but not showing growth. I feel good and have good quality of life. Do realize that Lupron will greatly lower your testosterone.,mine is less than 10. Not sure what effects long term use of Lupron will have but the past two years no problem. I receive Lupron injection every 6 months.I am now 78 YOA. Any other questions I be gland to share my experience. Alan S.
