Whats up with my gut

Im not the happiest person right now as my gut is flaring. Ive been having gas, yellow/brown on and off diarrhea, low grade fevers and passing clumps of what I assume is mucus with bm or alone. Just had an upper scope, which is fine, but dont have biopsies back. Not sure its a gut virus, been going on for awhile. Anyone know about mucus in the stool? I told gastro, seemed unimpressed and put me on omeprizal. Dont have the follow up appt for over 3 weeks. Im so tired, just wanting to rest and sleep. Im supposed to go on vacation, which never happens, and Im really bummed. Not sure what to do.

I just posted a story about C Diff a couple of hrs ago.
Your symptoms sound all too familiar! If you haven't heard of it, C Diff is a miserable gut infection usually caused by antibiotics killing off too much good gut bacteria. A stool sample test can check for it. This does not get better by itself and be careful with dehydration from having diarrhea.
Go back to the dr if you aren't feeling better real soon or any of this gets worse!!!

@januaryjane - about mucous- the large intestine produces mucous and in itself not to worry about. It is common when one has IBS - in my experience.

Did you have CDIFF test I would imagine? I would assume they took one the first week, you probably should have one again. I did that and within a 2 week period it "reared" its ugly head ... lol

I just posted a story about C Diff a couple of hrs ago.

I never thought about that. I was put on antibiotics not too long ago.

No, never had a test or a dr mention it to me. Can I go get a test at an urgent care? I wont see my dr for awhile

Ok, thanks. Although I keep reading that a lot of mucus may be the sign of a problem.

There is IBS-D and you have IBS -C ( constipation ) .
There are both kinds .

That would probably be referred to as IBS-C
