Hello @linjane. Here is some additional information on avascular necrosis, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/avascular-necrosis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20369863. Most notably, "Because most people don't develop symptoms until avascular necrosis is fairly advanced, your doctor might recommend surgery."

A few members have talked about necrosis (of the knee) in the past on Connect, however, that conversation has been dormant for quite some time. Although, you can still read through some of their experiences here, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/osteonecrosis-20ca52/.

@linjane, have you noticed symptoms in your shoulder? Pain, trouble with movement maybe?

Hi Justin. Thank you for replying. Because of having to use a walking frame or crutches most of last year, I put the pain in my upper arm down to that. To be fair it wasn't that bad. Over the last few weeks the pain has developed and is incredibly painful at times. The crunching and popping in my shoulder is horrible. My GP said he had never reviewed an xray like it and needed to look it up and then spoke about joint replacement.
I just cant help wondering whether there is any connection with all the conditions I have had over the past 3 years. My inflammatory markers are good. CRP marginally raised but nothing of note. I was hoping there were others that could help.
