Xanax 1mg 30 day supply
hello everybody so my doctor has told me that I have to come off of my Xanax because the people above her her bosses are telling her that since the epidemic has started she has to bring all her patients down 10 pills until they are completely off I understand the epidemic but a lot of people need this medication in order to function everyday and I am one of them I started at 60 pills so I would take them twice a day for 30 days supply I was doing great I had a job I was more productive I was confident I slept great at night and she's been taking me down no matter how much I argue with her and tell her look I need this medication in order to function this is my life it's debilitating she still says that she has to take me down is this true because she said there was a law that's going to be passed by next year somebody please tell me if I'm the only one going through this

Same thing for me. I’ve been on the same dose of Xanax for many years. At my last psychiatrist visit he cut my dose in half. I was surprised and when I asked him why, he said there are new laws coming. I was concerned that cutting the dosage so drastically may cause withdrawal symptoms. He basically said too bad.
What country do you live in? I am aware of no such law in the U.S., only recommendations.
Folks I just went on line and I could not find anything about new rules coming in 2020! My experience with this sort of "BS" happened a few years back that almost cost me my Life. I had been on Ambien for 8 - 10 years and had been doing ok. My old PCP retired and I was assigned to a younger dr. not far out of residency.
Her superiors had instructued her that "Old People" over 65 should not be taking it because of the danger it posed to me. (I had never had an issue taking it all those years) She assured me she had a new medication that was safe and I would be fine!
Within a week I had serious side effects Headaches, musscel pain and a host of other things. I was on a business trip when the side effects became unbarable. Having some knowledge of medications and my body I stopped taking it. Side effects still percisted! I finally cut my trip short called her and told her what was going on. AMAZINGLY SHE SAID TO STOP TAKING IT! SHE WAS BRILANT! By the time I finally got home some of the side effects had lessoned.
I went to bed that night feeling ok. At some point during the night I Sleep walked, had never done that before in my Life, i fell 20' down a stair case landed on my head. Looked like a crime scene from 20/20!
I don't remember anything until I looked in the mirror at 3AM and saw the blood on my head. Not know what had happened I came back up to bed, after about an hour my wife woke up and asked why I was moaning. Truned on the light and saw the pool of Blood on my pillow.
Long story short we went to the same hospital ER. They released me saying I was ok. A week later the day after Xmas I started having seizures. 911 took me back and found a brain bleed they had missed the previous. I was in a coma for a week. Still have some issues after all these years.
My point is I am so sick of our socialized medicene that tells us what we should take or not take. It is our body and we understand it better than anyone.
MY BEST SUGGESTION IS TO FIND A NEW DR.! I have been lucky this last year recovering from Lyme Disease! My PCP is old school! Since there is no cure for the disease his philosphy is to treat my symptoms and make me comfortable!
I can't tell anyone what medication he has me on because I will get a lecture that I will be using needles soon because of my medication! He monitors me with the amount I take, controls my percription monthly and by law in New Mexico I have to Pee in a Bottle every six months.
All you have to do is read Mayo Connect for a week and can understand our medical profession is getting worse and unhelpful day by day.
Let some of these people suffer through the same thing we do and see if they let another doctor tell them they can't take a medication that helps ease their suffering!
SORRY FOR THE RANT! I AM JUST REALLY TIRED OF THE LIES AND FAKE NEWS ABOUT OUR HEALTH SYSTEM.

John I just went on line and checked also! Read my rant about what is happening in our country with our medical profession.

Florida Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
As far as I can tell from websites, that program is just to report to the state what people are taking so that people who get multiple prescriptions of the same controlled substance can be caught. The purpose of a controlled substance is to limit a prescription to what a doctor feels is safe for that patient. There does not seem to be a limit imposed. The only change would be to add a prescription drug to the controlled substance list. This would then impose additional work on a physician, thus maybe making it more compelling for a physician to just stop prescribing it. That is speculation so you would need to ask your doctor about the specifics of what they are saying and why they made the decision to cut Xanax to find out what they are thinking.
Thanks for all your research! I’m not going to argue with my doctor about meds. Where I live, I would be dismissed from his practice if I challenged him. I know, find another doctor. There are two psychiatrists in my county, and I worked for the other psych doc for years, so I have no choice other than drive to another county. I’m doing better on the latest mix of antidepressants, so am not needing xanax as often. What I resent is that I had no say-so in the decision.
@kleelibby I know many areas of the U.S. have a shortage of psychiatrists. That certainly does add to the feeling of loss of the ability to make your own decisions. I have faced a shortage where I live, but not as severe as yours. I do need to go across the whole county to get to another one to use the one I have now. I am trying to find a Medicare Advantage plan that includes hospitalization as regular Medicare is limited in it's coverage for hospitals. However, the Advantage plans available where I live would all require me to find a new Psychiatrist.
Thanks for your reply. I’ve looked into Medicare advantage plans, and not one of my doctors is in network. That’s how rural it is. Now if I want to drive a couple hours to Tampa or Gainesville I’d have dozens of physicians to choose from.
When that has happened to me living tin a Third World State, New Mexico, I have called my Medicare Advantage provider, in this case Aetna, they looked up in their network, while I was still on the phone and got me set up with one of their in house network Dr. that I didn't know existed, and I was taken care of.
