Diagnosis today and feel paralyzed but need to be there for my hubby..

Posted by cindee60 @cindee60, Nov 12, 2019

We are in Canada and just left appt where we were told brushings from my husbands bile duct near intestine are high probability of pre cancerous cells but the surgeon felt there’s a good chance it’s cancer. He says he feels the area of the cancer is removable and treatable. I understand this is bad but can anyone offer any stories of hope...? I need to be strong for my husband . Thank-you

Thank you I felt hope when I read the first line of your first message to me saying you were diagnosed 5 1/2 years ago so thank you and I am waiting to see at the beginning of the year what our doctor decides is best. He said chemo is probably going to be required. Did you have IV chemo or pill?

@cindee60 I have often wondered about the many different protocols for treating pancreatic cancer. The chemo drugs have also changed since my diagnosis. For me, 2 weeks after my diagnosis I had 4 days of further testing. Two weeks after that I had my Whipple. Then I had 6 months of IV chemo. Each month I had 3 weekly infusions of gemcitabine followed by a week off. They didn't even put in a port. Towards the end it became harder to find a vein that would work. One time they had to stick me 5 times before they could start the chemo.
