Diagnosis today and feel paralyzed but need to be there for my hubby..
We are in Canada and just left appt where we were told brushings from my husbands bile duct near intestine are high probability of pre cancerous cells but the surgeon felt there’s a good chance it’s cancer. He says he feels the area of the cancer is removable and treatable. I understand this is bad but can anyone offer any stories of hope...? I need to be strong for my husband . Thank-you

@cindee60 how are you and your husband doing?
Hi cindee60
Just checking on how things are going.
Are you feeling less panicked?
@cindee60 We’ve not heard from you in awhile—is everything going OK? We’re concerned. Becky
Hi Bob not doing good just found out we are facing pancreatic cancer and a Whipple procedure soon so scared
@cindee60 I’m sure you both are scared with the diagnosis and treatment. Just remember, we’re all here for you if you need to scream, complain, talk, or just blow off steam. Remember, try to be positive. Becky
@cindee60 I am not going to say that you have an easy road ahead of you. I want you to know that not everyone qualifies for a Whipple. If the cancer was too far advanced, the doctors wouldn't even suggest a Whipple. I was diagnosed with Stage 2b pancreatic cancer. I had my Whipple 5 1/2 years ago. I have met other survivors of pancreatic cancer, some who had their Whipples as long as 25.years ago. It may not be easy, but survival is a real possibility.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. Still in very early stages of knowing what will happen but things are sounding somewhat positive. The surgeon said it looks completely resectable so hopefully he’s right but he’s an excellent surgeon so I am having faith. Your story is inspirational so thank you. He does qualify for Whipple but new doctor is not sure yet if he has to go that route. Again thank you.
I might be in touch again if that’s ok
Cindy
@cindee60 I am praying that the new doctor is right and that your husband does not need a Whipple, but whatever happens we are here to provide support in any way we can. God bless you.

Cindee, obviously a lot of uncertainty at this time. For us as well, fear of the unknown was front and centre. Do what you can to stay out of the panic mode. I encourage you to continue to reach out on connect when you feel the need.
Thank you I felt hope when I read the first line of your first message to me saying you were diagnosed 5 1/2 years ago so thank you and I am waiting to see at the beginning of the year what our doctor decides is best. He said chemo is probably going to be required. Did you have IV chemo or pill?
