My child's eyelids are abnormal, can't find a solution

Posted by florencia @florencia, Nov 11, 2019

sice 4 years ago he had this this problem and become increasingly serious.
Doctors have treated him for allergies but nothing improves. Just a month ago they told him it could be chlamydia but they are not sure. they are treating him with arzomizin, they gave him only a dose of 13mg but the improvement is not very noticeable. He see blurry. I don't know if this or it could be something else. I await your comments trying to find other alternatives or ideas. thank you all.

Hi, @florencia - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I would feel frustrated if my child was seen by doctors, treated and yet nothing seemed to change.

While Connect doesn't provide diagnoses, as it's a patient-to-patient online community, we have members who might have ideas or input from their own or their children's experiences. Please meet @imallears @brightwings @lioness @bumble81 @hopeful33250, who may have some thoughts for you.

What types of doctors has your child seen thus far: primary care, allergy, ophthalmology, other specialty?

Hello @florencia,
I am so sorry to hear that you are unable to find a way to help your child's eye problem. You said that he has blurry vision, does what kind of discomfort does he feel? Is there pain, soreness, etc.? Has he had any injury to the eye in the past?

Hello! Thanks for reading our problem. Two months ago he had an ulcer that was cured and he has had a peck in his cornea. Sometimes he has felt pain, but more than anything annoyance and a lot of photophobia. Anything you can think to help, thank you very much.

Hello! Thank you for your concern and your suggestion. Juani saw allergists, ophthalmologists, pediatricians, infectologists.

Hello,
I wish I could be of some help to you. I am assuming one of doctors did a culture to determine if it is indeed chlamydia or a fungal infection. Yeast infections can spread to different parts of the body including eyes. I’m surprised no one has been able to treat him and appreciate your frustration.. I’m assuming the drug they gave him was for a bacterial infection . Are they keeping him on any drugs for an extended time? Short term may not be effective but I don’t know the ramifications of long term use. They may need to go in a different direction if he is not improving. I don’t know how old your boy is or if he is taking any other medications. I understand Uruguay has one of the best healthcare systems worldwide. Might be time to be more demanding.

Please keep us informed.

FL Mary
