@cindee60 Pancreatic cancer is scary. I was diagnosed 5.years ago. My symptoms included severe abdominal discomfort and nausea and orange oily diarrhea. I was a Type II diabetic and also had trouble controlling my blood sugars. My doctor did a CT scan and the tumor was easily detected in my case. What kinds of symptoms are you having that make you think of pancreatic cancer?

Thank you for the quick response. It is actually for my husband I typed it for him. He is type 2 diabetic already. He has yellow eyes and skin around his eyes is also changing color. Diarrhea and a discomfort right in the middle of his stomach. Losing some weight but not a lot and this has been happening for a month. Feeling very alone waiting for a CT scan. Can’t tell my hubby how terrified I am .....

I too had pc. I had abdominal pain, orange tinged urine and very grey bowels. Lost some weight and was fatigued. I was jaundiced as well, and my liver enzymes were elevated. Try starting him on lots of fruits and vegetables, especially carrot/celery/apple juice. It will help. Also try to eliminate all dairy - these are inflammatory. I did chemo, surgery, radiation as well as natural, and it is almost two years now since I was diagnosed. It is a struggle, but very possible to cure.

Thank you so much for your reply I’m so scared and feel so alone. We are in Canada but I would travel to states if the treatment was better. Where did you get your diet change information from?

I saw a nutritionist at the mayo. I also read a book foods that kill cancer that mayo has in their library. There is also Chris Beat Cancer by. His Wark who only did surgery over 20 years ago and is still NED. I follow some of his protocols, as some of these make sense. Staying healthy is my second full time job. As scary as it is, it is curable. Also since you are in Canada read up and talk to people about medical marijuana and regular marijuana - am convinced it helped me.

Hi everyone,
I am writing on behalf of my mother who has been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and liver mets. The surgeons have told her she is not a sugery candidate and have pretty much written her off with their poor bedside manner. She is scared as am I. I have been up day and night trying to navigate information of treatments and personal care (diet, mind, spirit) to deal with this. How does one maintain a positive attitude consistantly? I find that I am good one minute then there are times where i crumble. But I am prepared to push on and do whatever I can. I am a new mom to an 8 month baby girl and all my mom wants is to see her grow up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you kindly.

Hello @natalex, welcome to Connect. You may notice I moved and combined your discussion post with an existing one titled, "Can someone help...terrified: Need info on pancreatic cancer." I did this because your post had so much in common with this existing discussion where members like @cindee60 and @marvinjsturing discussed their fears with pancreatic cancer and being diagnosed as well. @natalex, you mentioned that your mother's providers have said she is not a surgery candidate. Have they discussed any sort of treatment with you or your mother?

I was diagnosed w stage 4 pancreatic CA January 2nd this year. Because of small liver metastasis I am not a surgical candidate either. Have had chemo all year and the primary tumor is shrinking. Make sure your mother is getting CREON. Because the pancreas may not be able to secrete its digestive enzymes, diet becomes critical and there is not a lot of information about this. Most diet information is just directed at cancer, not cancer of the digestive system. Nausea and diarrhea from chemo make it hard to stick to a "healthy" diet consistently. My first few months were scary and unsettling, but as the tumor shrinks, I feel much better and can exercise more and eat better. My oncology team at Mayo is extraordinary and positive, while not sugar coating anything. They understand there is a balance between quality of life and quantity of life. If I can survive even another five years by doing chemo every 3 weeks I feel very fortunate indeed. Cancer is a learning experience for me. I've learned a little bit how to be okay with big unknowns. - even how I will feel from day to day. I've learned how deeply I am loved, and continually amazed by the level of supportiveness of friends and family. I would recommend Kelly Turner's book Radical Remissions. It is full of stories of people who reversed "incurable" cancers and lists the main things they did to achieve this.

So my husband recently was seeing a doctor about yellowing of skin, light stools, weight loss and upper abdominal pain. Last week I took him to emergency and he had a bleeding ulcer. Was rushed to hospital in another city and underwent emergency surgery to clamp off bleeding ulcer. In the meantime he underwent CT Scan 2 scopes and numerous blood tests and an ERCP. 7 doctors told us this blockage was stones. Well it wasn't it was a stricture according to the doctor that performed the ERCP. He has sent a sample for biopsy. So I am now confused and scared out of my wits. ERCP was done late Tuesday Nov 5th. Can anyone advise how long biopsy results take? Now I just received a call from a Heptologist office for an appt next week following up on my husbands recent hospital stay.....what is going on? If he was in hospital for 13 days, had numerous tests and 2-3 scopes would they have missed something really bad? I am so scared.....he is turning pink again as a stent was placed in the bile duct. He is definitely feeling better but did receive 7 bags of blood and 3 bags of iron so I am not sure if he is still tired due to loss of blood or something else is going on?? It seems Heptologists only deal with bad things and yet the doctor told us all the testing they did showed no evidence of cancer.......so sick to my stomach and have 5 more days until appointment. Is there any hope that this could not be something really bad..???
Any response appreciated.

Hello @cindee60

I'm glad that you posted an update about your husband. You wrote, "he is turning pink again as a stent was placed in the bile duct. He is definitely feeling better..." This is all good news, isn't it?

If the testing so far shows no evidence of cancer, that is a good thing. I'm not sure how long it will take to get the biopsy results back, but try your best not to assume the worst.

Hepatologists deal with liver disorders and it does not necessarily mean "something bad."

I hope you are able to relax some until your husband's next appointment. Will you post again after his appointment and let us know how he is doing?
