Benzos make it worse

Posted by doorman @doorman, Oct 3, 2019

Does anyone here have this reaction to benzos? At first, they helped. But after a while, they now make me feel worse. I’m talking about Klonopin. I’m chalking it up to a paradoxical reaction, but it’s disconcerting because it means I have no back-up med. Really weird.

Not too much to report. I did not go up to 150 on the Effexor, since my GP just increased my Mirtazapine from 30 to 45 mg. I don’t like doing two med changes at the same time. As far as benzos, I was prescribed Zanax, a short acting drug that I will take as needed. NOT every day.

It’s been a LITTLE better. Mirtazapine is a unique drug. It is a tetracyclic. Used for anxiety, depression, and insomnia. I take it at night to sleep. Helps a bit with anxiety.

well a LITTLE better is still better 🙂 and i am glad to hear it...i had an early bedtime last night, dont know if it was the klonopin the reduced anxiety or both. for now i see the klonopin as a tool to help me get thru the next 2-3 weeks while the 150 mg effexor builds up. i tell my psych everything and then leave it in his hands..i find that to be the best approach for me

I wish I had a reliable psych. I’m not thrilled with the one I have now.. It’s been my biggest challenge....finding one I trust.. Sometimes I feel I’m lucky to have found one at all. It’s been tough.

what has been the main issue youve been having with your psych? i like mine because i could come in there telling him i think im jesus and that i can fly and he would remain calm and be like oh it is ok that is just your anxiety we can fix that lol

He’s a bit flippant at times. And it seems sometimes I know more about a med than he does. I’m going to a clinic. I can most likely get another psych. I’ll ask next time I go there.

sounds good..definitely make sure you find one you are comfortable with, if you are going to therapy as well maybe ask your therapist to refer you to one that is how i found mine
