Supplement combination/effectiveness
Ergomax brand PEA was working so well after 9 weeks of 1200 mg. Per day, thought I was 'cured'. Pain and burning was rare and brief! Then...it comes back. Who would one go to in order to find out if supplements are cancelling each other, overkill in combination taken etc.? I take alpha lipoic acid in the R-ala form, acetyl L carnitine, turmeric and B12. Continuing with PEA since I stocked up! Medical doctors? doubt it, health food stores? Probably sell you more stuff! How do you find a chemist or biologist perhaps? Thanks for any advice.

Regarding your poor big toe... have you been tested for gout? It sounds so much like what my sister encountered with her toe and thumb.
No, I haven't. The pain began over a year ago as a result of walking too much. It was before I was diagnosed with SFN. I went to ortho and xrays were fine. They put me in a boot and said it was a sprain. Same happened with my hand...a "weeding injury" and i wore a hand splint. Body was falling apart...was SFN. Will check.it out further though. Thinking maybe a cortisone injection may help. Thanks for response.
Hi Joanne, I think the only way you would know for sure of the effects of the PEA, would be to start eliminating each of the others, one at a time, or all together, and see what happens to your body just on the PEA. I don't even think a pharmacist would know for sure, because they study drugs, much more than supplements. Were all these supplements, taken all together, (including the PEA) helping before, and for how long? It is so darn sad what we go through to try to feel well. I just couldn't take another moment of feeling the burning in my feet. It was like, "What the hell is this already?" I did not feel like tapping pain away, telling myself I am well, and don't need pain signals; yada, yada, yada. So, I just smoked a reefer. Like I am 20 again! And this is so exceedingly crazy. Smoking grass to not feel pain. I could never have imagined my life would come to this. Like the Devil's joke. I don't know anymore. I just don't know..... Lori Renee
Well said sister!
@rwinney Yes. For me, a large part of the time, the daily pain is just beyond comprehension. Don't know how to cope, what to do, what to take, how to behave, I could go on and on. But today, was reefer. That's it. Last resort. Save it for when I just can't cope. Today I cant.....Lori Renee
I hope tomorrow finds you with some relief and let up, with a better frame of mind. These types of awful days are taxing.

This may help with clarification on Acrtyl L Carnatine
@rwinney
Thanks for the clarification. "Acetyl-L-carnitine might not reduce neuropathy associated with chemotherapy in cancer patients. In fact, it might make it worse." Probably why I had it on my "not recommended" list.
@rwinney thanks for the good wishes. Today is better than yesterday, thank God. I thought my feet would have flames coming out of them yesterday. But today, it is not perfect, but better. My goodness, what we to through. Thanks again. Lori
I have been taking 800mg (two 400mg capsules) of PEA for about a month. Is it better to spread it out over the day (one in morning and one in evening) or should I just take it all at once? I have been taking it all at once in the morning and I seem to feel better in the morning, and then it gets worse in the afternoon and evening.
