Zoledronic Acid: I need feed back for this drug please

I had my first treatment of Zometa, was on Xgeva before with no side effects. The first treatment of Zometa was not a pleasant experience. I had flu like sypmptoms and felt like someone beat the crap out of me. Do any of you have problems with your teeth or jawbone with Zometa?

I've had two so far three months apart. About 2 days prior I get blood work done. They take about a half hour. I tend to feel achy and tired for about a week or so after having them done. However, I had a horrific fall on my knee and didn't fracture so it must be working.

Does anyone has Zometa infusion? My doctor just recommend that to me.
I'd like to do some research and learn more on this drug.

When will you start with treatment? What questions might you like to ask?

After treatment I usually slept most of the day. For the next couple of days I felt like I had the flu. I had two treatments three months a part. Sameness feeling both times.

Thanks for the info....Doctor also said be cautious with dental works after the infusion.

Actually, may I suggest that you should probably see dentist before and have all dental work that needs to be done first and then be cleared by dentist PRIOR to Zometa infusion as it could make things heal slower. Check with your oncologist and dentist prior.

I had my first Zometa infusion for bone strengthening (along with my chemo treatment) due to bone metastasis. I felt like crap for 2-3 days, extreme fatigue, queasiness/loss of appetite, bone & muscle aches, headache. Much worse than chemo side effects. I’m scheduled for a second infusion in 3 weeks, and almost want to refuse it. I know the benefits likely outweigh the risks, but I’m also hesitant to do anything that further deteriorates my quality of life.
I think my oncologist said side effects may be less with second treatment. Anyone who can comment on your experience?

I had problems where I nearly passed out during infusion so the following ones they slowed the infusion down and that helped. As far as the bone aches and feeling like a bad flu, that's part of it for some of us. If you can schedule toward the end of the week so you'll have a weekend to recuperate, it may help. I would tell my family when this was being done and they would know I'd just kind of be laying around for a while. The first time took me a week to recoup and after that a shorter period, maybe 3-4 days.
