Produce especially lettuces
I was wondering if anyone has stopped eating things like bagged pre washed lettuces and other items like this? Or even lettuce, spinach etc that you wash yourself? Do you take extra precautions with all produce to remove possible bacteria? Also have you been told to stay away from all water spray? I have found this to be disconcerting only because my new kitchen sink has a wonderful sprayer, I actually must run water slowly to avoid water spray. All of my faucets seem to have aerators in them.

As to the produce - Wow! What caused you to ask this question? Does anyone have any research-based data/studies that might address this?
I am going to give my lay-person response - I think if you are swallowing the food, and not inhaling it, the acid and bacteria in your stomach will destroy any bacteria that might be on the food, so there is minimal risk of infection.
As to the water sprayer - I must have a similar sprayer - I can count on getting wet if I'm not careful. I just try to be sensible - not spray like crazy & keep my face away from the sink to minimize inhaling droplets - just like I keep my face out of the shower & use the "rainwater" setting with big, gentle drops instead of the finer sprays that aerosolize readily. I will say I am not ready to go around the house and remove the aerators from all the faucets...
Good advice!
Personally, I have a hand held rain water shower device .
I saw it on a a web page called Body Pro which is more for people with HIV/AIDS but it was an article about MAC. I just wondered if anyone here had heard that. I was told by my doctor to avoid all water spray, even watering my garden.
@Silvermoon8...I wash all produce in boiled water, especially if it grows in the grown where MAC and pseudoman are...I’m not sure if it was Dr Falkingham that mentioned this but I will s Imail him to find out...great question...I have psedomonas which weakens my lungs even more, along with the MAC...better safe🙏🏻
I wash all produce, not for fear of mac being on it; but rather, salmonella, e-coli, and other organisms, along with pesticides. I use dawn dish soap on hard rind things like apples, watermelon, cantelope, turnips, etc. Those items have been a lot places during shipping and have had many hands on them. Produce can be dipped in a vinegar and water solution to kill exterior germs. This also helps to make the produce last longer because it kills the bacteria on it. I hope this helps.

I eat very little raw food. I cook my vegetables to al dente. That is enough to kill bacteria, but leaves in the nutrients.
