@l2consulting, I'd like to invite @marlynn, whom you connected with in another partial knee replacement discussion, to discuss this topic in a bit more specific detail. @l2consulting, I remember having issues with my hamstring and the ligaments around my knee when I had it replaced in 2006. My issues were due to my knee being so deformed and arthritic for so long that the muscles and surrounding ligaments had atrophied so badly. Prior to surgery, my leg would only "straighten" to 15 degrees, so once I had my surgery I was trying to stretch those ligaments and muscles back to zero. This caused months of painful stretching in my hamstrings, ligaments and anything surrounding my knee. Have you discussed this sensation with your surgeon? Did you possibly have some atrophy prior to surgery that you are trying to overcome now?

Not sure I am the person you mean because I had 2 full knee replacements. But here’s my experience.
In 2013, before first surgery, after examining X-rays of my knees, my Doc recommended no more walking on treadmill but start using elliptical and riding the recumbent cycle & prescribed stretching exercises. I did what he said for a year before surgery. Although my recovery was just as painful & long as some others describe, I got back to the recumbent asap and also did all exercises as I was told. Maybe this is why I, fortunately, did not experience that tight banded feeling as severely and long. One knee is shorter than the other and that causes problems but that’s another story. 😃
