Hello @anirudha02 and welcome to Mayo Connect.

I can understand your concern with the symptoms you have experienced. It is natural to want to know if a condition like this is going to be lifelong or not.

We have many discussions here on Connect that deal with LPR/GERD. Here are some links to those discussions, please read through these discussions and let me know what you learn.

Many of us with these symptoms that you describe consider it a lifelong problem. We use meds, watch our diet for any foods that trigger these symptoms and very importantly manage our weight. As you probably have been told, excess weight can be an issue that will make this problem worse.

As with any health condition, keeping stress to a minimum is important so I find that exercise helps me with that aspect of GERD.

How are you managing your diet, weight, and stress?

I look forward to hearing from you again!

Thank you for replying.
I am avoiding the trigger foods and also i am not overweight. For stress i am doing few breathing exercises but there is no stress now.
My concern is should i have to be on PPIs life long (i am 36 yrs). Also for now PPI don’t always seem to help, been 2 months.
