Started vaping with high potential medical marijuana! Have neuropathy in feet and starting in hands! About to be in wheelchair! It doesn’t even relax me! Any suggestions?

Hi, @hertz - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You'll note I've moved your post here to this existing discussion on medical marijuana for neuropathy so you can meet up with others discussing this topic, like @wilcy @peggyn @lorirenee1 @johnbishop and others. @artscaping also may have some input on your son's suggestion for using medical marijuana for your pian.
Will you share your exact diagnosis — type of neuropathy, if known — and what type of pain you are experiencing, hertz?
I am 86 years old. I had a stroke a year ago May. Was doing great until last October when pain began. Drs. don't want to give anything for pain , just do testing and sending on to another doctor, who starts the whole procedure again. I have been placed on Neurontin, Lyrica and nothing else, which have not helped.. Have also been told to take Tylenol, which is like eating M&M's. I would like to hear from those on marijuana for same type of pain,.
Hello @hertz, I would like to add my welcome along with @lisalucier and other members. I also think it would be beneficial if you are able to share your diagnosis and what type of pain you are experiencing. The will help other members relate to your condition better and share their similar health experience and treatments. There is another discussion which you may want to read and see if it might be helpful for you.

Rso Is only legal in certain states! I pray you are in one of them. Dispensaries sell it here in Nevada & California in a syringe. RSO stands for Rick Simpson Oil and tastes like licking the Street! I have also found it called FECO (full extract cannabis oil) Both are Thick dark and very sticky! (I don’t smoke or vape) I have learned to put small amounts of the rso in a capsule! Everything I have learned has been from others fighting cancer and through the cannabis community!
I have used marijuana for pain, and it helps, but made me so high, that I was probably unaware of everything, period. I inhaled very little. The stuff I used was very potent. My pain at that time was very severe, so I appreciated it. However, it is not a state I would like to be in on a regular basis. I really do not have much experience with it at all, but I can tell you, it helped the pain tremendously. I have heard that marijuana is much stronger than it used to be. I really do not know. I would say that if you are at your wits end with pain, do it. Just don't make it a regular thing, because it is not a way to live a life. Lori Renee
Thank you for yr post,I'm at the end of my wits in pain so I'll gone try it and I'll let y all know! The problem is I don't like drugs and don t want to be high, just sick of pain!!
@hertz I have a Medical Marijuana Card & I do think it helps relieve the pain. I smoke it which I probably should not but at this age you will do anything for pain relief . It takes the edge off & gives instant relief for awhile. I'm hoping my meds work & then I won't have to do this bc it is expensive. They do have edibles too. Best of luck to you.
My best of luck to you in your search to help your pain. God, how I know what you are going through. Keep me posted how it works. Lori Renee
Thank you for your input. I need all the information I can get at this point.
Have you ever tried edibles? Would they be less potent in making you HIGH?
