Kidney Lab Results

Posted by duran75a @duran75a, Jul 18, 2019

I recently had lab work done and my blood work showed my egfr, bun and creatinine levels are normal but my ur microalb/cr ration was high. I have an appointment with my provider next week to go over my labs but I cant stop worrying about it. about a week or two prior to getting these labs done I was on antibiotics for a uti. I was also on my period when I had my labs done. Does anyone know if these situation would have caused a higher reading?

I also had and ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder and that came back normal as well.

It can be very worrisome when you are in limbo waiting for a "real" diagnosis. I am sorry hear it had been so stressful on you. Rest assured the tests you are having preformed are exactly what you need in order for your doctor to learn more and make a diagnosis. Your eGFR and Creatinine levels being normal is positive news. Do your best to eat healthy, take a walk, or read a book to keep your mind busy. If you care to share, what make you go in for testing to being with?

@duran75a, It is my experience and understanding that by doing all of the healthy things now, that you are giving your body the best opportunity for success. I commend you for your positive attitude, too.
I would suggest that you start making a list of questions for the doctor when you have your appointment. Write it down, and take it with you.
Is someone going with you? It has always been helpful for me to have a second set of ears. When I'm nervous. like in an appointment, I don't remember anything.

That's a good idea I wasn't going to take anyone but I will.

Good morning @duran75a! My nephrologist en encouraged me to bring someone with me the first appointments when everything is overwhelming. My daughter took notes while, I listened and asked questions. Now I make sure I have paper and a pen. I have also used a voice recorder.
