wife has balance problem
I am trying to find help for my wife. The balance symptoms started 2 yrs ago and she uses a walker now. We have seen a neurologist in our home town of Amarillo Tx. And Scott and White in Dallas. I think she has had great Dr's , who have done many test for every diagnosis that could be related to her symptoms , the testing has been extensive and duplicated over the past 2 yrs., but no diagnosis was achieved. I am trying to find a doctor, or a group, who, when everything has been ruled out, can look at the other possibilities, obscure diagnoses, or general treatments for undiagnosed diseases or symptoms. We are at a loss of where to turn. Any advice you give will be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Randy & Pixie

Don. thanks for your reply and story. couple of questions- How are you doing now, did the aspirin help? The term "brain scan" are you referring to an MRI?, Do you plan on continuing to see more DR's and what kind of consultant did you have. I enjoy details if you have anything else you would like to share.
I have decided to go to Mayo in Rochester . It's hard to keep spirits up . But thanks to you and good people @ Connect, feeling better and not alone. Yes, lets keep in touch. Randy, Pixie
Hi, @randypixie - Hoping that @doncampbell will return and share more about how he is doing now, if the aspirin was helpful, whether he had an MRI or other scan, and whether he is planning to continue to see more doctors.
@randypixie - also wanted to check in and see how your wife is doing with the balance problems you'd mentioned? When will you be visiting Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota?
hi Lisa, thanks for your concern., I have contacted Mayo and started a file. we were waiting for a w/c to arrive before the trip.it arrived today so I hope to make appointment with Mayo tomorrow. Wife has had a bad day and seems to be deuterating. I was hoping physical therapy would help, but isn't.
We will keep looking, but not so hopeful today. wife doesn't want to go to Mayo, I think that's why she has had such a sharp downturn....
I am sorry your wife is not doing as well. Has she stated why she doe not want to go? Maybe you could help to come up with a way to overcome the objections she has. Hopefully she will feel more inclined to go in a few days and that she will be doing better.
@randypixie
I'm sorry to hear that your wife was not helped by the physical therapy and that she is feeling more discouraged. It is so wonderful that you are advocating on her behalf and trying to get the best treatment for her.
Will you keep posting and let us know how you are doing?
In that light, we also have a Caregivers' Discussion group. In these discussions, you will find some support for yourself as you try to help your wife. Here is the link to that group, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/caregivers/
Teresa, thanks for the link to caregivers group, I was thinking that I could benefit from talking to others about it , and will check it out.
@johnhans, yes, we will make it, she also has IBD. I think she worries as much about that as well. thanks for your support
Thank you for your reply. My father had IBD for many years. It is no fun I can tell you. Sorry she has all these problems.
