How do you deal with dry eyes?

Yes, I have been dealing with dry eyes for 40 years! I use Allergan's Refresh Celluvisc preservative free eye drops (artificial tears) many times during the day and night time ointment at night. Years ago, I tried Restasis which I discontinued because of severe stinging and burning. Just had an appointment with my over 80 now retiring ophthalmologist who recommended trying Xiidra (lifitegrast ophthalmic solution) which recently became available in Canada. Was just about to start a discussion group to get feedback on Xiidra.

Good afternoon @sue225, I know this is an older post. However, I did not see it because I wasn't monitoring eyes at that time. I have now been on Xiidra for over a year. I guess I will find out how effective it has been.....I go today for my annual check-up. I do find that keeping these products in the refrigerator helps eliminate the stinging and burning upon application. I am also checking in on the Osteoporosis group discussion. Thanks for your participation. It is so important.

May you have happiness and the causes of happiness.

I have been using Xiidra for a few months and I think it works well. The only issue with it is when you put it in, your vision is blurred for about 15 minutes.

I have used Xiidra now for about 2 years now. I have had good results with the drops. The taste is not that great but does go away, just don't lay down right after you use. Also, do not miss any doses unless directed by your doctor.

Since you are unable to save any drops I use the whole tube. My eyes are very dry since I live in West Texas and I have Sjogren's.
The drops are quite expensive if you do not have insurance.

Good Luck!

I had a severe allergic reaction to Xiidra because it is a sulpha drug. My doctor prescribed it without checking my allergy list.

I am on Restasis for my dry eyes. My eye physician gave me samples of Xiidra to try. I did like it but my insurance wouldn’t pay for it so I stuck with the Restasis.

Do you have Sjogrens Disease?

Xiidra burned my eyes so badly I could not use it!
