Has anyone tried "walkjoy"?

Hello @luckyeddie -- Welcome to Connect. I have not heard of WalkJoy but did find some information on the product on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy website.

There is another similar product called Walkasins which I saw a demo of and was pretty impressed.

Do you have problems with balance when walking?

I replied a couple of times. I think I e termed info in wrong box.
Yes, I have balance problems when walking and standing still. If I close my eyes I feel like I could fall over.

I tried them for 5 days without success.

You mentioned that you've tried the WalkJoys for 5 days without success. Are you able to return them after the free trial?

Hi, @luckyeddie - good to meet you, and I'm sorry that the wearable devices (WalkJoy) did not work for your neuropathy. I'd like to bring in more members into this discussion who may have some thoughts to contribute related to devices like this, like @gjnson @venki @wobblyone @jenniferhunter @barbarn @ann192790 @retiredteacher.

Like @johnbishop, I'm also curious if you will return to try the devices further after the free trial, or if your doctor has another avenue for you to try?

@luckyeddie I also am not familiar with WalkJoy. I have a tendency to stay with tried and true, if possible. There are so many devices, gadgets, and ads for all sorts of things that I feel so many are just for reeling in people who are in pain and having health problems. My tried and true is the treadmill and aerobic power walking tapes. However, I am having problems with foot pain so walking at all is too much for me at this time. I have a doctor's appointment in two weeks for my diabetes so I am going to discuss my feet with him. Maybe he will have a suggestion.
I will see if my endo has anything and if so, I'll share that.

@luckyeddie and @retiredteacher, I met Dr Lars Oddsson at the July 27, 2017 Meeting of the Minnesota Neuropathy Association. He was the co-inventor in 1999 of the Sensory Prosthetic for Improved Balance Control at Boston University/NeuroMuscular Research Center. At the time the product was going through the regulatory FDA process for approval. It looked really promising to me for those with diabetic neuropathy who only had pain and numbness in their feet and not up into their calves. I don't know if it would work for you but the product does look more likely to work to my non medically trained mind. Here's the site that describes the Walkasin product.

Hi, @luckyeddie - have you and your doctor determined what to try next to help with your balance?

The neurologist now thinks it is related to my eyes flickering, and loss of balance related to a part of my brain. I had an MRI of my head, but it showed no abnormalities. I have a follow up 7/23.
