3 months after appendectomy

Posted by shanamarie22 @shanamarie22, Jun 1, 2019

In March I got my appendix out, but the pain has never gone away fully. Recently my one incision has been getting puffy redder at the bottom and hard. (Somewhat painful) but on and off for the past three months I still have sharp stabbing pain by my belly button to my right lower side and my doctor won’t do anything

Hi, @shanamarie22 - wondering how things are going with the pain you had three months after your appendectomy and the symptoms you were seeing on your incision?

Hello, I am new here. On the 7th of May 2023 I had undergone Laproscopic surgery for appendicitis and now it's been 2 months 19 days but I still have pain. Please help me what should I do?

@abhi12
I have you checked with your surgeon or primary provider. I would think after 2 months you should be healed.

There is a chance something else beside your recent surgery is causing.

@abhi12 Pain is so awful and affects your quality of life. It must be so frustrating for you. I have lower back pain from osteoarthritis and some days even when the pain isn’t there I’m so fatigued. I’ve been told by a nurse who works in wound care that once pain is ongoing after 3 or 4 months it is more challenging to treat.

I have a few questions. Is the pain a sharp pain or more of a dull ache? Is the pain located in the area of your abdomen where you had the appendectomy or is the pain somewhere else?

These are the questions your doctor will likely ask you. Have you seen your primary care doctor or the surgeon who did the appendectomy?
