Best Plasters/Adhesive bandages
What do people find are the most relilient ones, that stay on for a while even if they get a bit wet. I mostly damage my fingers so I like the really long ones

@lotsofpain My favorites are fabric because they move with your fingers and the glue will hold through hand washings. They do get soggy about half way through the day. My husband likes the waterproof bandages. They also hold well and resist the water. They do not get soggy, but you lose a little flexibility.
@lotsofpain Hi and welcome! What are the plasters/bandaids for? Have you injured yourself? If you have a cut or broken skin, it’s best to remove the plaster each day, inspect and clean the wound, let it air and then put on another plaster. Wet, dirty bandages only add to the problem and can let infections take hold. As a nurse, I dealt with this everyday. If the cut/sore/abrasion starts looking red or not healing, have it checked out.
thanks yes a routine cut from a hard to open tin, I more or less did what you said and it healed over a number of days. I also use plasters when I over bite my nails
@lotsofpain Oh, oh, nail biting. I used to do that! My husband still does. There used to be a product that you could buy at the pharmacy. Don’t know the name. It should be in the nail polish section. Ask. It colorless and odorless and paints on like nail polish. But it tastes TERRIBLE! Use it everyday! And good luck. I’m glad your cut wasn’t too serious! You can usually keep a cut open to air after 24 hours.
I’m just curious, I’ve never heard of them being called plasters. Is that Midwest or east coast terminology? Maybe plaster is what they are and Band Aid a brand name???
Jake
you can still buy it but I never found it much of as disincentive. What really works is not being able your hands near your mouth though that does not reduce the "desire" only the abillty to do it
United Kingdom. Band Aid is like Biro and Hoover where the brand name becomes an alternative name for the product
@lotsofpain For over the ends of your fingers I recommend fabric butterfly shaped plasters. I had a callus on the end of one of my toes that I used two small straight fabric plasters to keep soft. I put one over the end of the toe (front to back) and the other around the toe to hold the first in place. It was inexpensive and incredibly effective. That would be my recommendation for you. Plus they are much easier to find and less expensive than the butterfly shapes.
@lotsofpain Haven’t heard from you in awhile—have you been able to stop biting your nails? You haven’t gotten any infections in your fingers or nail beds, I hope. I see that people posted lots of good suggestions for you to try—did you try any? Were they successful?
