Generic for Lyrica to be available in July 2019
I wanted to let people who are taking Lyrica that the generic form of it should be available in July 2019. I’m glad I recently held off ordering a 90 day supply of Lyrica at a very high price. The generic form should be a lot less expensive. I just thought this would be useful information for some of you.

Are you sure you want to take this drug? I was on it for six years and stopped it because I’ve lost a total of eight teeth while on it! The withdrawal from it is worse then a heroine addicts withdrawal. Please look at all information before you begin this drug. It’s put me through a life of hell coming off it
Thank you for letting us know. I take it and pay that high price every month. So this will be awesome.
As the generic for Lyrica been made available yet?
What are the benefits of Lyrica? Why is it prescribed to so many people if it causes so many problems?
@cdcc , I’m sorry you had such difficulties with Lyrica. I guess we all react differently to medications. I’ve been taking Lyrica for two years. When I was taking 300 mg a day, my left ankle swelled up. I also encountered brain fog. I wondered how much Lyrica was helping with my pain so I tapered off of it. Fortunately, I didn’t have too much a problem doing that. I stopped taking it for about a week, but I realized that it took the edge off of my nerve pain. My pain was noticeably worse. I slowly restarted taking Lyrica, but this time I only worked up to 150 mg a day. At this dosage I really don’t have any problems with it.
Like everyone else I’m sure, I wish I didn’t have to take any meds. Prior to two years ago I didn’t take any medication. Unfortunately, that has changed. I try to take as little meds as possible, eat healthy, and exercise as much as I’m able. And hope for a better tomorrow, one with less pain!
@bull I just checked with my pharmacy, and they did not have the generic for Lyrica yet. I guess you will have to check with your pharmacy. Hopefully, it will be available soon.
Hi, @summertime4 - here is some Mayo Clinic information on pregabalin (Lyrica) that may be helpful, talking about what it's used for as well as side effects https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/pregabalin-oral-route/description/drg-20067411.
@bull - have you taken pregabalin (Lyrica), or are you/your doctor considering it?
I asked also,,,, they acted like they didn’t know anything about it. I live in texas
Having taken lyrica for 10 years I'm very happy to hear about this development but a quick heads up for those taking currently. I just went to pick up my refill and insurance wants 10x the amount of money or new paperwork from doctor. Very frustrating, as I'm trying to leave town. This was done on a refill and with no prior notice from insurance. So be aware, it may be worth checking with your pharmacy to see if they are carrying the genetic.
Thinking of you, @cdcc.
