@mmoss I had a bad experience from Cymbalta.Just one pill and I couldn't remember anything scared me told Dr and went off right then .Call your Dr for how to get of safely
Hello @mmoss,
Do you want to go off of the Cymbalta because of the side-effects that you are experiencing? The dose you are taking is quite low. Whenever you want to taper off a drug though you should consult with your doctor who prescribed the med. Your pharmacist might also be able to assist you.
Remember that not all of the side effects listed by the drug manufacturer will be a problem for everyone. We all metabolize drugs differently.
Will you give your doctor a call and see what his/her recommendation would be regarding the tapering?
This drug comes in a capsule form. You can not cut it in half.
The doses are
30 60 90mg
@mmoss, Good evening. I just passed this way and saw your post. I have a question. Have you consulted your clinician about your desire to get off Cymbalta? Based on my experience, the two work well together. The Cymbalta reduces anxiety and knocks the top off of depression. The gabapentin reduces pain and the needles that go along with neuropathy, especially in the arms and hands. It is difficult to find that perfect combination.
I did go get one of my capsules and cut it open with small scissors while holding it over a dish. There are tiny beads inside the capsule so you could easily measure each to be 10 mg,
May you be safe and protected from inner and outer harm,
Chris
@mmoss I wonder why you're taking cymbalta and why you a want to stop it. Also, when I've reduced or tapered off medications I've always done it with my physicians guidance and help. It's worked well, he prescribed me different dosages if needed as we went down and helped me understand the speed we could/should taper from the drug. That's important, as there can be some serious side effects if we come off a drug quickly or w/o tapering it slowly.
If you haven't had a good chat with the doc, maybe you should and let the two of you do what's best for you.
Let me/us know how you do and what;s happening. Blessings, elizabeth
