← Return to Initial Visit to Mayo Clinic - How Long Should I Expect to be There?

@des46893

My initial visit to mayo in Rochester was 4 days. A lot depends on what tests they’ll accept from your previous facility. It was my experience that they wanted results from their own testing. Another factor is the logistics of having that many appointments and scheduling them without any overlap. I worked with scheduling and my pre-coordinator and they were very helpful. It might be a little overwhelming at first but if you get comfortable with your schedule and get to know the footprint of the campus you will be okay. I had a liver transplant because of cancer and just celebrated my third anniversary on 4/10.

Thank you for your input, and i’m so happy you’re doing well now!

@des46893 you had a liver transplant because of cancer? I had no idea they did transplants for that. When I had cirrhosis I did have a couple of malignant lesions and if there had been more, or if they were larger than a certain size, I would not be able to be a candidate for transplant. I have wondered why they can’t do transplants for pancreatic cancer, but I guess if it has progressed there is concern that it could have metastasized. I am under watch for that now, I had an MRI on Monday and will see my oncologist on Friday.
