Hip Pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis
I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and have been treated for 2 yrs with Humira, Plaquenil, and NSAIDs. I have hip and thigh, bone pain so bad some days that I can barely stand it. I have recently been changed to Enbrel and a topical cream with Lidocaine and Prilocaine and so far, no relief. I have had both hips injected with no relief. On xray, the joints show only mild/moderate arthritis. I am curious if anyone else has this type of issue and have any suggestions to alleviate the discomfort.

Hi jill1234. I know that hip pain can be excruciating and can move down through your thigh and even into your knee. Have they exmained you for bursitis?
Many times hip pain is caused from lumbar spine issues. It may be worth getting a back work up.
Good Morning,
That is true, but in more than one way.
When we suffer from back pain, we often change the way we walk to compensate for the pain.
For me, I walked differently, so long, because of the horrible pain in my left leg, that now I suffer from pain in my right hip area.
My muscles are very tight.
I go for a massage every 2-3 weeks and I have the therapist work on it.
Getting some relief, but not yet where I want it to be.
Have a pain free day!

The injections were for bursitis. I just didnt get much relief. I appreciate your response! I will keep on keeping on.
That is an interesting thought! Thank you!
I hope you find some relief! A massage sounds heavenly!
@grandmar Good morning to you I'm having pain in my left knee from sciatica can't walk alot did yesterday now horrible pain in knee ,my right hip isn't hurting yet but not looking forward to it Yes compensating will do it have a good day
I had hip pain that resolved after being treated for a vitamin D deficiency. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at the time as well, and continue to have issues keeping Vit D and B12 levels within range.
Hi again! Were you given corticosteroid shots for your hip? I also had a bursa and was given a shot for that, but ended up having to get steroid shots to help my hip. Also, I use a rolling pin to relieve the muscle tightness all along my thing muscles. When I can, I will roll on my styrofoam roller (which can really hurt at first) but it relieves the tightness and helps the muscle to relax and do their work to support the hip joint. Have they taken any X-rays? I can't remember if you said anything about that. Hope it goes well today.
I too have bad hip pain that seems to be related to femur bone pain and can sometimes impact my knees. I have had lymphoma with a lot of different kinds of chemotherapy and radiation and two stem cell transplants. The bone pain started after my first transplant and went much deeper with my second. I also suffer from a compromised immune system and I find it curious that perhaps my hip, femur and knee pain are related to an immuno-deficiency which has been documented. I wonder if anybody else has this kind of pain and also an immune system issue ... autoimmune or induced/reactive immuno-deficiency??
