Have You Made Any Kind of Peace With Having Your Neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 30, 2019

Because I am often in pain, I am not at peace with being sick. I would love a way to be more peaceful and accepting in spite of illness. I do not know how to do this. I have humor "shtick" to make people laugh. I find I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. This saddens me, because my life was laughter and helping people enjoy themselves. Now I am internal. It kills me. It is not who I am......

@sadfeet

I tried Scrambler Therapy. It did not help.

I have heard of Scrambler therapy, but never have known anyone who has tried it. Can you tell me a bit about it? I have severe neuropathy, and was thinking of trying it.

They put electrodes on my feet and legs to send different nerve signals to the damaged nerves so your brain may start to send non pain signals to the areas your are having pain. I think the problem was that I was the only patient they had tried at my clinic so they kept moving the electrodes around. I have read that better results are reported when the medical staff has more experience using the machine. I believe that the Mayo Clinic reported better results with more experience also. I did not have any improvement and had to pay out of pocket. It was worth trying though because you just never know what I might help. I keep searching and hoping for a cure!

Sadfeet….It is horrible that you had to pay for such inexperience and ineptitude. You must have a really good nature!
that would have made me upset. Thanks for the information. Lori Renee

Yes. My husband and I are both currently getting treated. His issue is feet only; mine is feet but the hands were much worse. It is not a quick process. We are near the end of the first set of 36 treatments, and while there is definitely improvement, we are not without pain yet. (Although the worse for me was HORRIBLE burning in my hands that sometimes traveled up my arm. That stopped after just two sessions). All that said, if you have issues I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. There's a late night program on TV that explains a lot if you can catch it in your area; on 1:30 - 2:00'ish on Direct TV in Phoenix area. Sanexus is covered by Medicare.

I have neuropathy in my calf top of left foot and some under feet. I must walk with a walker or I will fall. My issue is that folks I knew abandoned me. I am not driving (not because of this), and not walking far. People don't want to help out, so I am socially deprived, emotionally deprived and physically deprived. If you have family and friends it's not so much of a struggle. Have to go now to do other things.

My family doesnt understand anything they are not or have not gone through, plus are uncomfortable about discussing suffering/death. That's why these online boards help.

I really wanted to go someplace yesterday. A friend went somewhere else and he doesn't come with me anyway. So, Chikko and I went to a local lake and beach. I took uber and was happy I got myself out of the house. The driver helped me with my shopping cart which I use to hold on to. Great driver ... Rosemary
