I had the cataract surgery January 8, 2019, developed inflammation and was treated with steroids/ After 4 weeks it did not clear up so the YAG -laser was done. I still can't see well and the inflammation has gotten worse. I was told the next step would be a needle to draw out the excess fluid. Very nervous about this next step. Searching for alternatives to this needle.

@jaguar737, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I will be a candidate for cararact surgery in the next few years, so I appreciate that you have shared your experience here. I think it is helpful to hear about experiences of others who have gone thru similar procedures. I do realize that we are all different, but I also have the thought, "what if" forming in the back of my mind.
As for my current experience, I do get routine treatment with eye injections, and the area is completely numbed with drops so that there is no pain at all. The only discomfort that I feel is the nervous anticipation and fear of pain - which I have never had. The thought of it is the worse part of it.
When do you learn if you will need the fluid drained?
