Did you ever find out what was going on? I am having almost the exact same problem. Seriously painful to swallow going on a week now. Swelling of lymph nodes all down side of neck and tonsils swollen with white spots. All tests have been neg so far. Pain in temporarily eased after eating (so weird) but over counter pain relief barely helps. Doc has said it’s viral and cant’t do anything to help.
