What's your experience with dialysis? Give & get support here
Dialysis is required if your kidneys don't function adequately on their own. Your doctor will discuss with you the type of dialysis that's best for you. Dialysis treatment is a serious responsibility, You'll need to work closely with your health care team who have experience in managing dialysis. Open communication with your health care team is essential to your overall health.
Fellow patients are a wonderful source of support and practical information because of a shared dialysis experience.
If you are a dialysis patient, or loved one of a patient, what are some things that you have experienced that might be helpful to someone who is new to dialysis? What kind of life adjustments have you had to make? How has it affected your everyday life?

Hi, friend @kamama94, Thanks for the smiling memory of the childhood fun or trying to catch snowflakes on the tongue! How are you doing? Any more info on the medial treatment front? In the 20's here today so sending you warm and gentle hugs!
@fiesty76, doing ok for now after antibiotics for an anscessed tooth that's coming out next week. Always something, isn't it?
Many of us dialysis patients on a Mon-Wed-Fri schedule look forward to the weekends because we won't be famished and exhausted like we get after each blood-cleanse session during the week and we don't have to go anywhere.
Mon-Wed-Fri dialysis days still are good days to live because they help make Sats and Suns good days to live also!
@kamama94 You have such a great attitude! I am sure you keep the dialysis team and your fellow patients, entertained and knowledgeable while you're there. What a blessing you are.
Ginger
@gingerw, you're making me blush. One of my dialysis buddies is the real hoot - when someone was a little disrespectful to that elderly lady, she told the person, "Show a little respect, please, I have underwear older than you." The whole clinic cracked up.
@kamama94, What a beacon of hope, courage and optimism you continue to be for all of us, dear one! So grateful for your presence in our lives.
@kamama94, That's the spirit!!! I can relate to your buddy's retort!!!
So true! @gingerw.
No more dialysis needed this week, labs are almost normal and neph thinks kidney has recovered a little function at least temporarily. Unnecessary dialysis can actually cause some damage. So today's a good day to live! And to enjoy a dialysis vacation.
@kamama94 I wish I could give you triple likes for this post!
Today is definitely a great day! Wham! What a great way to exit 2020 and Bring in 2021!
Fireworks, Whistles, Hugs.....for you and for what you have accomplished. A beautiful reward for your day-after-day compliance with your healthy eating and dedication.
