What's your experience with dialysis? Give & get support here

Dialysis is required if your kidneys don't function adequately on their own. Your doctor will discuss with you the type of dialysis that's best for you. Dialysis treatment is a serious responsibility, You'll need to work closely with your health care team who have experience in managing dialysis. Open communication with your health care team is essential to your overall health.

Fellow patients are a wonderful source of support and practical information because of a shared dialysis experience.
If you are a dialysis patient, or loved one of a patient, what are some things that you have experienced that might be helpful to someone who is new to dialysis? What kind of life adjustments have you had to make? How has it affected your everyday life?

Have been following along and wishing for your good health! Fell and broke my hip and now have a hip replacement. Thought of you and your recipes so often while inhospitable, trying to find something to eat that tasted like anything. Couldn't believe when your doctor fell ill. Hope you get some folks who know their stuff. Take care.

Too late to declot so no referral to other surgeon, Av graft placement in upper left arm scheduled for Wed, Jan 13, 2021. Hope the permacath stays stable until graft can be used!

Kidney failure's inherent doom is real. But so is the beauty of green grass in the spring real, so is love real.

@kamama94, I've been thinking about you today. Green grass is hard to find in my neck of the woods, but the blanket of fresh snow envelopes the landscape, creating a new acoustic and ambiance.

@kamama94, I've been thinking of you also and so agree that watching snow fall is almost mesmerizing in beauty. Yesterday morning out my front window there were verrrry scattered snow flakes. Totally unpredicted and exciting because of the surprise. I had to go out to "catch a few flakes" to verify that Yes! these were real snowflakes! They drifted by quickly and were too few to "see" on the pavement but what a momentary thrill! Thinking of you.
