Yes, depression can trigger sugar craving/carb craving. I suggest that you put some routines into your evening. Drinking herbal tea, adding a sweetner like a stevia product, warm, fragrant and soothing, can distract your body and mind into comfort. Keep a journal of when you are depressed and hungry, see if there is a correlation between those times/days. Go to bed at a regular hour. Note that you may have more craving later in the evening. Make specific rules for yourself to follow. No fruits after 7pm, no bread after 5pm, no cheese after 4pm, tea only after 8pm. You can also say you can eat anything you want after 7pm but portion is one ounce. No more than one ounce.
Are you on an anti depressant?
FYI, I am not an MD or a nurse.

You can also make a rule that you are only allowed carbs after you run in place for 5 minutes. Various activities will reduce the desire for these foods, and make it easier to resist.

Not anymore....the two I tried made me so sick I could barely get through my work day...and rather than go through another possibility I made the decision to just gut it out and do what I could to maintain a semblance of normal.
