Leonard, you have less cofirmed cases than other States because you started mitigation in early March. Other states didn't start till the end of March or this month. You're also way behind in testing. So please don't get complacent and don't be under the illusion thot there are not more infected people in your state.
The people with all the shopping carts may be buying for others or don't want to have to go out again.
People have really adhered to California's Shelter In Place advisory. People in FL have too yet we have over 14,000 confirmed cases.
Don't let your guard down.

FL Mary

Good evening Mary,
I’m not at all trying to diminish the seriousness of this crisis however common sense seems to have gone by the wayside. I have been home since last April rarely venturing out since I had to take care of my Mom. Since August I go out even less only to donate Platelets twice a month or if the pharmacy screws up my medicine. I did go buy a bed and to the lab a few times but I always carry a bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket hopefully that does a little good. At last count I understood there to be 17,000 cases in California. I'm sure that’s a low number however I can’t guess I have to go by what the numbers are.
As of yesterday California tested 362 per 100,000 people. The national average is 596 tests per 100,000. New York’s testing has reached 1,748 of every 100,000. California had a backlog of 60,000 tests but now the backlog is just a fraction of that. The governor said that testing in California will increase by five fold by the end of the month, let’s hope so. There have been 450 deaths in California.
Stay safe everybody and be vigilant,
Jake
