@imallears As I said, my husband is of Italian heritage, born here. His mother was born here too and his father came to this country when he was 16. He was an Italian pastry chef. We have visited the town in Sicily that he came from. The people there were incredible. A lovely young woman in the town hall actually managed to find his birth certificate and where he had lived!
We love Sicily. It's sort of odd that not many Americans go there. We love the Amalfi coast too, and pretty much all of Italy. We will probably make one more trip there in the next year or so before we are too old to travel. I keep thinking we should go to Ireland since that is my heritage but Ireland sounds sort of boring.

My son and his family have been to Italy and Spain but not Sicily. My mom’s from Ireland and it’s not boring if you go on the Pub Tour lol. Go and kiss the Blarney stone will ya!

My daughter and SIL and kids are planning a trip to Ireland for their 25th anniversary next year. . I’ve been to England and France but that’s about it and I was a lot younger. I dated an Italian after my divorce...the best and funniest years I ever had until he passed away....rip Augustino.
